ELECTRIC CAR CHARGING POINTS

TESLA & TYPE 2 ELECTRIC CAR CHARGE POINTS AVAILABLE ON SITE

STAY FULLY CHARGED

The Old Barn has two car charging points available for guests — one charger is for all Type 2 electric vehicles, while one is a dedicated Tesla charging point. If you’re staying with us, there’s no fee for charging your car up and our location makes The Old Barn Tregonetha an ideal base for exploring Cornwall in your electric vehicle (our EV charging will be charged at 0.33p/KWh from Jan 2023. This is much less than the open market & simply the rate we pay).

The official range of each electric car varies slightly, so we’ve gathered some range stats on some of the most popular electric vehicles with Tesla or Type 2 charging around so you’ve got an idea of how much sightseeing you can do on a single full charge.

Hyundai Kona Electric

Official range: 278 miles

How long to fully charge: 9 hours 35 minutes

Just one full charge of the Kona during your time with us would cover a lot of your sightseeing; you could travel to the Eden Project (20 mile round trip), Padstow (20 miles), Newquay (26 miles), St Ives (83 miles) and even Land’s End (104 miles), before having to recharge again!

Nissan Leaf E+

Official range: Up to 239 miles on longer commutes

How long to fully charge: 11 hours 30 minutes

The distance of the Leaf varies depending on the type of driving you’re doing, but if you’re doing longer journeys, a single charge should get you to Perranporth (40 mile round trip), St Agnes (50 miles), Penzance (82 miles) with some juice in the tank for some day trips closer to home like Mawgan Porth (20 miles), The Eden Project (20 miles) and Charlestown (22 miles).

Tesla Model 3

Official range: Up to 348 miles

How long to fully charge: Less than 11 hours

This supercharged car will get you around Cornwall easily on one charge — you could follow some of our other suggestions or add in places like Falmouth (62 mile round trip), Port Isaac (34 miles), Tintagel Castle (46 miles), Bodmin Moor (42 miles), Looe (54 miles) and Polperro (52 miles).

FAQs:

What’s your location like for exploring Cornwall by electric car?

The Old Barn is a five minute drive from the A30 dual carriageway and less than 10 minutes from the A39 dual carriageway, so whether you’re wanting to explore Cornwall’s stunning north and coastlines, want to delve deep into the county or fancy being a short drive from the wilderness of Bodmin Moor, you’ll be perfectly placed for exploring at The Old Barn.

Does Cornwall have many electric car charging points elsewhere?

If you did find yourself needing a charge on a day trip out, there are plenty of charging points across the county. We do recommend finding out exactly where these are before setting out, though with a decent charge here at The Old Barn, you shouldn’t need to charge anywhere else! Visit https://www.intocornwall.com/electric-vehicle-charging-stations-in-cornwall/ and https://www.cornwall.gov.uk/transport-and-streets/pay-as-you-go-electric-vehicle-chargers/ for more details on charging points in the area.

Will you charge us anything extra for charging up our vehicle?

If you’re a guest with us at The Old Barn, there’s no extra fees for charging up your electric car.

YOU CAN GET TO ALMOST ANYWHERE IN CORNWALL ON A FULL CHARGE
