Cornwall has a unique and magical coastline with over 400 beaches that are accessible on foot. There are plenty of local beaches to visit and some further afield if you fancy a little adventure!

Bedruthan Steps

Carnewas & Bedruthan Steps is a stretch of dramatic coastline located on the north Cornish coast between Padstow and Newquay.

It is part owned by the National Trust and has views over huge rock stacks.

Just a few miles along the coast from Padstow, this coastline keeps itself hidden as you first enter the car park.
However, after a short walk along the well established paths you will be rewarded with views that are arguably some of the most impressive in Cornwall.

Padstow

Padstow was already a bustling little port of fishermen and boat-builders in the time of Elizabeth 1st.

Nowadays the local fisherman supply the many fish restaurants which have recently become a major feature of the town.

Camel Trail

The Camel Trail is an 18 mile largely traffic free trail which provides access to the beautiful Cornish countryside along a disused railway line between Wenfordbridge, Bodmin, Wadebridge and Padstow. Running through both a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) you will witness some of the most spectacular countryside the south west has to offer.

Constantine Bay

A deep sandy beach with a rocky reef for snorkelling and good waves for experienced surfers.

There is very little parking by the beach, folk tend to park in nearby Treyarnon and walk the ten minutes across.

Lusty Glaze Beach

This privately owned beach had all kinds of summer fun, from swimming to abseiling.

The beach is a protected place for swimmers and ideal for catching those perfect waves. Surf lessons are available.

Crantock Beach
Distance from Old Barn: 30 min (15.8 mi) via A392 and A39
Crantock Beach is situated on the River Gannel estuary, which you can follow for an easy stroll. It is a stunning and very clean beach.

This is a large beach so there is plenty of room for everyone. Choose whether you want to pitch up for the day or walk the dog while keeping an eye out for the grey seals.

The beach is behind dunes so there is some uphill sand walking to get there. Please bear this in mind for disabled access.

The Lizard and Kynance Cove

A little bit of a drive but Lizard Point is Britain’s most southerly point. It offers dramatic cliff walks, wild flowers and geological features designed by nature to delight all visitors.

Two miles north lies Kynance Cove which is considered to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world – so definitely worth the extra miles!

Just be aware that dogs are not permitted between Easter and October.

Eden Project

The Eden Project is a popular visitor attraction in near St Austell.

The complex is dominated by two huge enclosures consisting of adjoining domes that house thousands of plant species and each enclosure emulates a natural biome.

One of the biomes simulates a Rainforest environment and the other a Mediterranean environment.

The attraction also has an outside botanical garden.

The Japanese Garden

The Japanese Garden in Cornwall combines the beauty of nature with an artistic refinement using shaping & styling of plants & natural elements.
It is a place of tranquillity with a variety of plants and water features, where visitors can enjoy nature in a peaceful, relaxing space.

Land’s End

A bit further afield but definitely worth a visit. Land’s End is a place of stunning scenery and outstanding natural beauty at the westernmost point of Cornwall.

Screech Owl Sanctuary

The sanctuary is a haven for sick and injured owls located near St Columb Major. The sanctuary hosts hundreds of owls in a number of aviaries.

Visiting is a unique and amazing opportunity to meet and touch a number of our hand-tame owls and to learn about their characteristics.
These owls have been hand reared for educational purposes and range from some of the smallest species in the world to some of the largest.
